Fiesta Virgen del Carmen - 16 - Full programme to be confirmedSailors celebrate a big festival to honour their patron saint, the Virgen del Carmen. The "Cofradía de Pescadores" (Fishermen’s Association) organises the different events. This fiesta has been celebrated in Calpe since 1940.
08:00 - “Despertá”. Morning parade through the streets with accompanimiento of the “Colla de Xirimiters: El Carellot”.
11:30 - Gathering of Autorities and Festival Committee in the “Plaça dels Mariners”.
12:00 - Holy Mass in the “Iglesia Parroquial Nuestra Sra. de las Nieves”. At the end, “Mascletà” (an explosive display of fireworks) in the Plaza Mayor.
20:30 - Offering of flowers to the “Santísima Virgen del Carmen” in the Harbour. Procession in the esplanade of the Harbour. At the end of the Procession magnificent fireworks display.
