Altea Castell de l'Olla Fireworks is a fantastic free fireworks extravaganza that is held on the second Saturday in August every year. This year the event will be held on Saturday 10 August. The Castell de l'Olla has been held in honour of San Lorenzo since 1986, and every year is attended by over 50,000 people every year. The setting for the event is the pebbled 1.4 kilometre long beach on the outskirts of Altea. Classed as semi rural the beach becomes a hive of activities as spectators arrive laden with chairs, tables and a nights supply of food. Through out the evening the atmosphere builds until midnight, when the show begins! The fireworks are set off from floating platforms and accompanied by a live orchestra. They are absolutely beautiful to watch as their colours and shapes reflect off the water.
