The Pirates of Penzance, performed at the Casa De Cultura in Calpe last week, was a roaring success.
The Calpe Gilbert and Sullivan Society took a chance that paid off by performing The Pirates of Penzance as their first full performance. They played two nights to delighted audiences who were impressed by the costumes and scenery. After months of rehearsals all the hard work paid off and the cast thoroughly enjoyed performing the opera. The members of the society gelled well together making the chorus sound wonderful, the principals excelled in their parts. the society will be performing concerts in the autumn of extracts from the operas, and next year will perform HMS Pinafore.
