THE OCTOBERFEST COMES TO CALPE
The twenty- third edition of the Oktoberfest in Calpe will start on Thursday October 7 and runs until Sunday 17th. There will be a varied program of events and activities in the large tent located in front of the Silene d' Ifach infant school . As is tradition, the Mayor of the Town, Ximo Tur, will inaugurate the Fiesta by opening the first barrel of beer at 20.00 hours. The new Fiesta Queen will be Stefanie Schaefer, an 18yr old student, who is from a third generation Calpino German family.
During the ten days of fiesta, the tent will open to the public at 18.00 hours, the music will start playing an hour later. There will also be two days with special fiestas. From 11 to 14:30, on Sunday 10th , will be " Tourist Day " with a paella contest and country music, and on Tuesday the 12th, there will be a jazz show .
The prices will be the same as last year, with a special promotion of "happy hour" from 18.00 to 19:30hrs , from Tuesday 12th to Friday 15th October.
As usual, in this spectacular celebration of a taste of Germany, it is expected that over 10,000 people will pass through the tent during the 10 days of celebration.
