Local Agenda 21 meeting - 1 March

The President and Mayor of the Municipality, Don César Sánchez Pérez, and Carole Saunders, Councillor in charge of Citizen's Participation, have the honour to invite you to the presentation of the project:

“LOCAL AGENDA 21" Citizen's participation

The presentation will take place in the Salón Blau of the Casa de la Cultura, Calpe on Thursday, the first of March at 19.30 hours.

The event will be attended by the director-general of Citizen's Participation D. Rubén Cortéz Mir. The draft of the Ordinance of partnership will be presented, followed by a wine of honor.

Agenda 21 is an action plan of the United Nations (UN) related to sustainable development and was an outcome of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992. It is a comprehensive blueprint of action to be taken globally, nationally and locally by organizations of the UN, governments, and major groups in every area in which humans directly affect the environment.

In this context, Calpe Town Council will address the creation, operation and maintenance of infrastructure and will supervise the planning processes, regulations and the deployment of a Local Action Plan (PAL). Thanks to its proximity to citizens, the town council will play an important role in educating and mobilizing citizens in the area of sustainable development and their participation.
