George Smith, who is responsible for bringing the Lions Youth Band to the Costa Blanca, had to return to England at short notice and asked Beverly and Hugh Stewart to take over the final arrangements and look after the youngsters. Seven days and eight concerts later, not to mention trips to the Accident and Emergency department of Calpe Health Centre, spider bites and borrowed crutches, a final sad farewell was made to the band .
The band were delighted with their week , having performed in Benidorm, La Nucia, Teulada, Moraira, the Jalon and Calpe. They said that the Calpe Concert was by far the one they most looked forward to and enjoyed!
The raffle raised €650 which will go towards the €1000 that the Calpe and Benissa Lions Club is providing for the Maite Boronat Centre for the Handicapped.
