Calpe Beaches Awarded Blue Flag & Qualitur Awards

CALPE RECEIVES THREE BLUE FLAGS FOR ITS BEACHES AND FIVE QUALITUR CALPE FLAGS. The Department of Tourism gave the five beaches of Calpe flags for their quality and at the same time three of the beaches were awarded the European Blue flag for their high standard. The three beaches to win the Blue flags are la Fossa, Cantal Roig, and Arenal. Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Beaches, Antonio Romera, received the awards from Valencian Councillor Belen Yuste. Councillor Yuste, said the awards recognize the quality of the environmental management of the beaches carried out by the Town Council. Antonio Romera took the opportunity of his visit to impress upon the Councillor Yuste the concerns the Town Hall have over the situation of the footbaths on the Calpe beaches. The footbaths do not work as the pipes that carry the seawater to them are broken. The Councillor stated she was aware of the situation and that there had been a delay in putting the job out to tender by bureaucratic problems. She expected the repairs to be carried out in the very near future.  It was also announced this week that Calpe placed 18 eco toilets along the beaches and coves of the municipality.
