Moraira Castle, known as “Castillo de Moraira,” is a small fortress located on the coast of Moraira, a picturesque town in the province of Alicante, Spain. It was built in the 18th century as part of the region’s defense system against pirate raids that were common along the Mediterranean coastline.

Opposite the gate there is a small chapel would have originally resided inside the castle. A couple of metres from here there is a water well, which would have provided the inhabitants of the castle with water.
Moraira castle is currently home to an audio-visual museum about the sea and piracy, as well as a permanent exhibition about the surveillance towers and piracy in the Mediterranean, offering information in several languages.
