The Story Behind the School

Escuela Internacional Waldorf Rudolf Steiner was created through the collaboration of families and educators who shared a vision of a more respectful and human-centred approach to education.

Inspired by the principles of Rudolf Steiner, the founders sought to create a learning environment built on cooperation between children, parents and teachers.

What began as a community-led initiative has developed into a thriving international school where families from diverse backgrounds come together around shared educational values. While the school continues to grow, it remains firmly committed to its founding principles of respect, creativity, community and holistic development.  

Educational Stages

Early Childhood Education (Ages 3–6)

The Early Childhood programme provides a warm, nurturing environment where learning takes place through play, imitation, movement and imagination.

Children benefit from a predictable daily rhythm, natural materials and creative activities that support healthy emotional, social and physical development.

Storytelling, music, artistic expression, outdoor exploration and practical experiences form the foundation of learning during these important early years. The focus is on allowing children to develop naturally while building confidence, independence and a strong sense of wellbeing.  

Primary Education (Ages 6–12)

As children progress into Primary Education, academic learning is introduced through engaging, age-appropriate experiences that combine intellectual development with creativity and practical skills.

The curriculum incorporates language, mathematics, science, arts, music, movement, handcrafts and storytelling, all delivered through the Waldorf method of “learning by experience”. Subjects are often taught in thematic blocks known as “epochs”, allowing children to immerse themselves deeply in each topic while developing strong connections between different areas of learning.  

The Waldorf Approach

Founded on the educational philosophy developed by Rudolf Steiner in 1919, Waldorf education is now one of the world’s largest independent educational movements. Its approach recognises that children develop in distinct stages and that education should support each stage appropriately.

The philosophy places equal importance on intellectual, artistic and practical development, often described as educating the “head, heart and hands”. Lessons encourage imagination, creativity, critical thinking and social responsibility, helping children become confident, balanced and capable individuals.

Small class sizes allow teachers to provide personalised attention and build strong relationships with each child. The environment has been carefully designed to feel welcoming, creative and supportive, helping children feel secure while encouraging independence and exploration. Average class sizes are around nine pupils, creating an intimate and highly personalised learning experience.
