Tonia Sheriff D.O is a fully qualified osteopath (UK) and Craneosacral therapist, who has been qualified since 1995. She is based in a clinic in Centro Comercial Perlamar in Calpe, Costa Blanca, Spain, and treats patients of many different nationalities.
What is Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a therapy that was founded by Dr A.T. Still in the US in 1871. Osteopathys are able to diagnose the underlying cause of pain and give effective pain relief.
Osteopathy became the first major complementary health care profession to be accorded statutory recognition under the 1993 Osteopathy Act in the UK.
Tonia trained and qualified at the Maidstone College of Osteopathy in the UK, graduating in 1995. For 5 years she practiced osteopathy in Kent and London, before moving to Spain in 1999.
Tonia continues to study osteopathy and craniosacral therapy in post graduate courses.
Tonia works with people of all ages, from babies to senior members of Society. She has particular experience in treating professional sports people such as cyclists and professional football players.
The clinic is located in the centre of town in the Centro Comercial Perlamar, in Avenida Gabriel Miro, Calpe.
During your first visit, Tonia will ask questions about your current problem and your medical history. If treatment is deemed appropriate, a physical assessment will then be carried out as appropriate.
The problem will then be discussed with you and a treatment plans agreed, if appropriate.
Hands on Treatment
Osteopathy is a hands-on treatment. After using her skills to diagnose the underlying causes of the problem, Toni will use a series of rhymical stretching, articulatory movements and soft-tissue technique to relax and stretch muscles, and mobilise and balance joints.
Adjustment techniques may then be used, to improve the range of movement and positioning of a joint, or a series of joints, where necessary.
