From next week, the fish from the bay of Calpe, the "Peix of Calp, will become part of the regular diet of schoolchildren in the municipality. This is an initiative between the local Departments of Fisheries, Education and Welfare, and the Fishermen's Association of Calpe, la Cofradia de Calp. Their aim is to educate children to eat fresh fish on a regular basis.

La Cofradia and the Town Hall and have worked together to incorporate the Peix of Calp into the menus of the seven schools of the municipality. The company in charge of catering for the schools have agreed to replace the usual fish dishes, such as hake romana and oven backed panga for dishes made with local fish, " Pota of Calp Rice "and" Fideuà of Peix of Calp.

La Cofradia will cover 50% of the cost of these dishes and it is estimated that each week the schools will consume about 150 kilos of squid, and between 60 and 70 kilos of morralla for the fideuà.

The Mayor, Ximo Tur, presented the campaign "Peix al'Escola".
