Paraiso Mar Bowls Club Description:

Joining Fee: New members joining for 6 months or more are required to pay a joining fee of 60€ plus the annual subscription for that year. (The subscription year is deemed to start on 1st October.)

New members joining for less than 6 months are required to pay the annual subscription plus 10€ a month until the full 60€ joining fee is paid. Such new members playing in subsequent seasons will make a similar contribution for each additional month until the total joining fees paid amount to 60€.

Club Subscription.
The annual subscription applicable is currently 25€ per person irrespective of the period played in any one subscription year.

Well, what a season! At the start it looked grim;star players were not returning from the UK due to various health problems and the summer signings of Ron and Vino Blanco didn't materialise (failed fitness tests).There was no prospect in the "January window" so Captain / Manager Terry Street had a hell of a battle on his hands from the outset but,typically, he got stuck in and, somehow, produced teams that got results;- results which,at the end of the season,got us to a best-ever fourth place in the CBBA Northern League.  So, on behalf of all our members, Terry, a big thank you for all your efforts.
 
Gary  Vincent will have the enviable task next season and I'm sure he will get the same support during his year in office.
 
Our last match, which got us into that fourth place, was at home against El Cid Scimitars (who, fortunately for us, were having their worst season for a while) and we had a good win.

Mike Tebby,Brian Padfield and Barry Cable                         lost 11 - 17
Val Street,Betty and Bill Green                                              won 18 - 15
Terry Street,Tony and Kate Sayers                                         won 28 -  6
Alison Edwards,Ken Freeman and Alan Edwards                  won 25 - 22
 
Although they only won seven ends Mike, Brian and Barry were never out of the game and at 13 ends were level at 10-all.  After that though, Scimitars got a four and then the crucial shot in the last three ends to finish us off.
 
Val,Betty and Bill were also outscored on "ends" but scored well when they did win.  At 14 ends we were level but pulled out all the stops to win the next three ends to take it out of the Scimitar's reach.
 
I don' get this - Terry, Tony and Kate insist they didn't play well but won 13 ends and 27 - 6.  It's a good job for the Scimitars that they had an off day or I dread to think what the score might have been.  This win certainly won us the aggregate bonus points.
 
Alison, Ken and Alan also scored well on their winning ends (eg 4-6-5-5) and, virtually had the game won at 19 - 9 after ten ends.  However, the Scimitars thought differently and fought back to take six of the last eight ends to provide an exciting finish.
 
Overall the Scimitars played much better than their League position would suggest - they won more ends than we did in three of the four matches but didn't get the results and this should give them a fighting chance to improve next season.  We had a bit of luck this season (not before time) with one or two matches but overall I must congratulate all the players for their efforts and commitment over the season.
 
With no matches left to report on and not much happening in the Summer that's the last from me until September so, wherever you spend the Summer, keep well and enjoy it.
