Man rescued off the Peñon

A MAN HAD TO BE RESCUED OFF THE PEÑON AFTER FALLING INTO A PIT 15 METERS DEEP AND BREAKING HIS LEG.

Whilst walking on the Peñon with a group of friends on Wednesday the 18th August at 17.50, a 40 year old man fell into a 15mt deep pit.
The area in which he fell was close to viewpoint. As the walker had broken his femur he could not climb out of the hole on his own.
As non of his friends could reach him either, the Guradia Civil and Benidrom Firefighters called the rescue helicopter.
The rescue workers descended by ropes to airlift him to the ambulance waiting at the entrance to the Peñon.
The man was then taken to Denia Hospital where he received urgent medical assitance.
