Double Festival Weekend in Calpe

Calpe enjoyed a weekend of activities by holding it's second Gastronomic & Trade Fair and Swingdance Festival. FIRCALP 2010 DECLARED A SUCCESS WITH 20,000 VISITORS An estimated 20,000 people visited the commercial fair, Firacalp, over the four days it was open. The fair was organized and funded by the Provincial Council of Alicante, which invested 70,000€ in the fair. This is the second show to be organized in conjunction with the Calpe Town Hall departments of Commerce and Tourism. The visitors were double that of last year. This second edition of Firacalp had 30% more exhibitors than last year. The main square housed up to 100 stands that represented a wide variety of the local businesses and restaurants. The fair was inaugurated by the Mayor, Ximo Tur, and the Councillor for Tourism and Trade, Juan Roselló. Councillor Roselló said the idea behind  the fair was to show the divergence of businesses and their products in the Town, boosting local trade and becoming an annual meeting place for traders and restaurateurs alike.   The Swingdance Festival "It Feels So Good" was held at the Sol y Mar Hotel, and was a musical & dance extravaganza with a variety of bands performing during the event.
