Calpe wins the “Q” award for many of its Tourist Services & Facilities

The Spanish Tourism Quality Institute (ICTE), has awarded 78 new "Q" awards to different services in the sector in recognition of its improvements and after passing the assessment tests necessary to obtain such accreditation.

Among new certificates issued, one is for the Real Club Náutico de Calpe, in addition to the blue flag which has been waving in the masts of this club for several years. The award was accepted by club president José Más by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Mrs. Isabel Borrego, along with the President of ICTE, D. Miguel Mirones.

With the addition of RCN Calp as a certified facility, the municipality has been awarded the "Q" Quality for tourism for it's beaches, the Arenal-Bol and La Fossa as in previous government, and Calpe now has achieved certification for it's tourist offices for the first time: for Tourist Info Calpe Centro, Tourist Info Calp Estación (now closed by the current government), Tourist Info Calp Lonja and Tourist Info Calp Penón.

To obtain this distinction, with which the Spanish tourism wants to differentiate itself from competing emerging markets, among other requirements, an assessment must be passed
by the establishment based on a number of parameters, not only the quality of the service, but also staff training. This award is reviewed every three years through conducting a thorough audit which confirms that the service provided is maintained within the basis on which it was awarded the "Q".
