BLOC Nationalist Mayor, Ximo Tur, calls for the resignation of three Partido Popular Councillors.

After his Deputy Mayor, Javier Marató, Councillor for Finance, Fernando Penella, and Councillor for Tourism and Commerce, Juan Rosello, were said to be being investigated by the Police in regards to the Brugal corruption case, the Mayor has called for their resignations. The Mayor said they must resign to preserve the image of the ruling Council. It is alleged Ángel Fenoll the owner of the company, Colsur  SL, responsible for Calpe’s waste disposal, had made recordings and videos of conversations with the Partido Popular Councillors when they were receiving bribes in payment for giving Fenoll the contract for the disposal of the Town’s refuse. The Mayor has stated that if the Councillors do not offer their resignations before the next Town Council meeting on 12th of the month he will insist that they resign. The Deputy Mayor Javier Morató, pictured here, says the he will prove his innocence and that it would be impossible for Fenoll to have taken recordings of illegal proceedings as they hardly meet with him.
